Tundra,

The Internet is still in it's infancy. If I can relate it to my specialty in Broadcast Television Engineering the Internet is about where black and white television was at before Ampex invented the first "modern" VTR (video tape recorder) in 1956.

Television went through a revolution when that first VTR was demonstrated at NAB in 1956. Bandwidth was a problem for TV then and is a huge problem for networking now.

The switched networks aka the bells ect. are trying to hang on by their fingernails. They don't want to replace that installed infrastructure! I don't blame them for hanging on, they have control of the critical "last mile" to almost everyone's home. If that can finally break free you will see the dam burst wide open for new hardware spending!

Congress did a poor job on the Communications Act of 1996 and if they can clean up that mess then we will finally see a revolution in communications to our homes and businesses.

regards,

Eric

For the long term holder of CSCO I can't help but think that this is good karma.
