I noticed Layfield was up 90% for a period there today. It's hard to figure out this major general running $0.40 to $0.50/sh a few months ago, there Newfoundland gold discovery must have disappeared. At least now MGJ will report macros using the NWT standard of 1/2 mm. One hole they reported (Golden Plover) 39 micros that may have contained 1/2 mm to 0.99mm macros but wasn't reported. Then there was the Longspur sample, they reported 1 LARGE MACRO OVER 1 mm. There may have been macros in the other 8 diamonds from that same hole and that wasn't reported. Then they reported what could turn out be the mother of all diamond cores - 75 diamonds in an 80 kg shallow drill sample. This time around they will report macro diamonds over 1/2 mm. Based on that large Macro and maybe other Macros not reported from past cores, I would think there is an excellent chance they'll pick up a few macros in this 75 diamond sample - 5 macros in 80 kgs. will mean 62 MACRO diamonds per ton.If that doesn't get the market excited, I don't know what will. That would mean the whole lake could be rich in diamonds. How big is this shallow lake.?? How deep will the diamonds go.?? Anyhow one good thing, George Tromp the NWT diamond pro likes what he sees in Major General, that should give us all a bit of hope, for good things to come.
