Did you know he wanted his space suit made out of polyester? They said no but mollified him by making it from a 70s leisure suit pattern.

I just heard on TV that it cost the taxpayers $220,000 for John Glenn to go on this flight! That's an expensive leisure suit!!! Here's a guy that had a pretty successful career and wound up, in the end, having to jeopardize his life by flying off into space just to repair his image after the disgraceful show he put on during the Thompson Whitewater hearings! Shame!
