You are correct. You can reconvert your Roth to a regular IRA, and then convert back to a Roth before the end of the year to gain the four year tax spread.

Eliz, thx for this info. fortunately i won't have to do it this yr. but yr is not over so we never know. i m more worried about if u do not qulify but u went ahead and converted it then what happens.

lets say u put in 10k in roth and becomes 15k. then
u figure out well u did not qualify in the first place. then what?

do they make u put back 10k or 15k from roth to reg ira?

Eliz2 and all: Think we have Intc on the right track, but imo must hold over 92 to test new highs. I'm finally in the black on AMAT after it was crushed, am uncertain if it can move much further, any thoughts?

OTOTOT Re: Roth IRA- Understand AGI is now up to $150K per couple for Roth to be allowed, is that correct? Also, if one reconverts back to Roth (the 2nd & final time), the value for tax purposes is as of the 2nd reconversion date, correct? Lastly, am I correct that marginal tax rate for 4 yrs. payment on Roth '98 IRA conversion stays the same regardless of the AGI for the taxpayer's AGI for '99,'00 & '01?? Appreciate anyone viewing this to respond.
Sonki -Am I crazy for hoping INTC holds its own in next 80 days over Dell, which I unbelievably failed to buy at its recent dip?
BTW, held a terrible loser TSNG, graphic accelerater co. put out of business by INTC, went from 4 to 1, only to merge/become a biotech co. w/Cell pathways, up to 5.5 today-check out this bizarre speculative co, up almost 100% in a week. Feel like I've escaped from the living dead with that one, also with NT which got creamed after it bought my BAY out.
sorry for the ot rambling, this thread needed a lurker to get some discussion after Sonny and Sonki's excellent observations. Go INTC.
Regards, Royco
