The SEC is the only body that has the power to dig into Amazon and Vinik's records. There is no way a single individual can do it unless they are willing to devote the next few years of their life and millions of dollars. Besides, I am still in the black on AMZN (barely) so I can't really claim it has hurt me financially.

It doesnt stop me from calling this stock's price a joke, or the manipulators common criminals. Of course, commiting federal crimes regarding securities fraud never results in arrests, just little dinky 1 million dollar fines- chump change when you figure most of the major brokerages who got in early have made hundreds of millions in profits each on this stock.

If something were illegal, and you knew by doing that illegal act you would make 100 million dollars, and you knew that the only penalty for breaking that law would be a 1 million dollar fine, of COURSE you'd do it. That is, if you were a large brokerage.

The real reason the SEC cracked down on those 44 internet hypesters yesterday was probably because the big scam artists (ie MSDW, BARS) dont like someone moving in on their racket. They prefer to keep all the profit for themselves.
