Let's recount how the news release today contributed to the speculative fever. The reported interval was to 209 meters.

<<"The interval reported ends in gold grades of 5 to 6 g/tn.">>

This implied that the rest of the hole to a total depth of 348 may have been this high grade. But, true to form, after the close, the company announced that the interval only has grade to 224 meters. What's up with that? The market was expecting more and this is now likely to have a big pullback.

Anyhow, I can't see why everyone is jumping up and down as Hole 84 just ain't that good. From 98 meters to 160 meters it runs 1.9 g/tn Au and 22.8 g/tn Ag. From 160 to 224 it runs 3.4 g/tn Au and 21 g/tn Ag. 98 meters is a lot of overburden and the lower interval is only $38 dollar rock. Not enough for an underground operation?

And for those doing the tonnage calculations, it is difficult to extrapolate more than 10 million tonnes at this point and within that postulated volume there's only a few intervals that are above 2 g/tn. I think I'll add to the (short) position.

G.T.

Excellent analysis. Certainly the most acurate I've read here. But event then, who knows what the frenzy can do to a stock...and who knows what other holes will have in store.

Hope everyone won't mind if I drop in here for a moment.

It's my opinion that the skeptics are dead wrong about this stock. Robert Dydo and I had this thread pretty much to ourselves last season, and we posted quite a bit of our dd here. I've read every nr ARP put out since its inception 5 years ago, looked at every trench, examined every hole, gone over every map. I've also reviewed every nr that LAC minerals put out during the early phases of the project now known as Pascua, just across the border to the north. Pascua also started off with a handful of ounces, and has been drilled off in stages over a period of years to the 20 million oz range. Everything I've read suggests it is quite possible that they will be drilling up gold on this property for years to come.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here lately, but for those that don't know, a while back Barrick starting boring holes beneath the Argentine border from Chilean side several km north of Veladero. Why are they doing this? Because they are going to be setting up drilling platforms down there folks. Just following the deposits, that's all.

Don't forget that Chile and Argentina have enacted a mining treaty that will allow ABX to move men and material across the border. The treaty will go so far as to allow operators in the high deserts of Chilean to access nearby water supplies on the Argentine side of the border. The potential for these sorts of arrangements probably doesn't look unattractive to Barrick at this time.

For those who are unaware, last season started way late due to El Nino, and ended on a disappointing note. ARP mngmt bought the stock big-time to keep it from going all the way into the toilet and becoming easy pickin's.

Regarding today's nr's, I wouldn't worry too much. ARP has been a straight shooter right down the pipe, without exception. The stock was halted for an unusual period of time this morning. It's possible they rushed to get the results out as they came, rather than let the stock trade while the news filtered into the market.

Keep in mind that despite the fact that they are in the 4th or 5th season and hole #84 on the property, exploration is still at a relatively early stage here. There are some damn good targets on this property that haven't even been touched yet. And they haven't gone deep.

I'm sorry to say that I missed the boat this year due to a preoccupation with some personal business. When last season ended in June, I held 40k shares in the low .50's, so I'm sure you can imagine my disappointment. Best of luck to the rest of you.
