duelling modems ought to be a good step up, especially since you've got 50K lines. 128K ISDN people say it is adequate. Two problems might be 1) I believe ISDN is pure digital signal whereas some of the 50K is noise and has to be filtered out. 2) This technology is changing fast, but I heard a while ago that people were having better luck tying to 33K modems together rather than the 56K's.

Hope it works,
wily

Wily and Clarence,

Regarding dual modem set ups:

Before I bought my 56K dual Shotgun from Diamond I did some research on multilink protocol, which is the function in the newer versions of Windows Dial Up Networking (DUN) software. According to tests, many multilink setups actually degraded total throughput (i.e. less data, not more). The one exception was the Shotgun, which adds it's own proprietary software drivers.

My results have been outstanding, with complete doubling of my download times. The one caveat is I live in a 28.8 max zone so I can't vouch for what would happen to the dual 56K v.90 modems if they had cleaner lines to connect with.

Alan

How expensive is ISDN where you are, Clarence?
