I am clueless as well! I think the Fed is in a bind. If the liquidity situation doesn't stabilize, what will they do? It's obvious to me that they wouldn't ease on the 17th if it weren't for the credit crunch/liquidity problem. But now what!

Also, on these poor earnings lately, a lot of companies blamed the strong dollar or SE Asia business, but now that the dollar has come down what are they going to blame it on next year? I'm remembering remarks by MMM, IBM, HWP, and others. Might the poor earnings not be better correlated with poor management? Especially if we look at MSFT, Dell, INTC and some others who have done well.

Just brought up the earnings because that might be the last piece to the puzzle (Dow 10k puzzle) since the consumer is obviously doing his part. <VBG> Think I'll go shopping. <g>
