Skeet, Thanks for suggestion, they do look good. My SEP is with A.G. Edwards, I was planning on moving that, too. When I mailed in last year's contribution August 15 (procrastination) I instructed them to buy spiders (SPY), and reinvest dividends in spiders "until further notice." When I got my statement, they had put it in money market. Why do you have trading account and IRA with different brokers. I would guess not wanting to exceed SIPC limits, but you are crying poverty, so . . . You asked for ideas for investing, so, speaking of technological FUBARs, latest issue of SpaceNews has an interesting article: Russia's global satellite navigation system (one of only two GPS systems in world), Glonass, is in imminent danger of collapse. They used to have 24 satellites, now only have 12, and three of the 12 are beyond predicted operational lives (4.5 year life expectancy for satellite). Only three are less than three years old, barely will be 3 years old in December. Three are built and ready to launch, and their rocket is paid for, but there is no money to transport to launch site, pay ground crews, or pay for rocket fuel. They are probably going to ally with Europeans, who don't like being dependent on US for GPS, and will develop their own or ally with Russia. In other articles, the FCC is proposing giving companies other than Comsat access to Intelsat, and the Justice Department is opposing Primestar's merger with News Corp., so analysts are saying Primestar is potential takeover target for Hughes(DirecTV) or EchoStar. About 8 million satellite tv subscribers in US now, they are selling dishes everywhere including Price/Costco, Sam's, BJ's, Best Buy, and Circuit City. BZW Satellite Stock Index down 13.4% for third quarter, 7.7 % for year. There are winners, British Sky Broadcasting (BSKYB), Gilat (GILTF) [wish I had the cojones to invest in an Israeli satellite co], Comsat (CQ), are up for quarter and year, and Iridium (IRIDF), General Instrument (GIC), USSB and Orbital (ORB) are up for year, but down for quarter. Hey, if you like risky investments, check these out. CobaltBlue
