According to an article on CBS Marketwatch I read, today is the fiscal year end for mutual fund companies (not really sure what that means). The article went on to say that the managers are seeding their holdings with holdings from the major indexes (like the S&P 100 and 500).

Perhaps today's large blocks are due to Siebel's position in the S&P 400 (I think).

Subject change: According to some rough calculations I did recently, Siebel is trading at anywhere from 20 time forecasted 1999 earnings to 40 times trailing 12 months earnings (or something like that). This seems like quite a steal after the historical PE of 100+ it traded at earlier this year. Is this mainly because the market doesn't believe the earnings estimates?
