Bob, From folks at the hospital. I haven't seen any invoices. But, thanks to my parents, I know Medicare's modus operandi. My Mother goes in for a procedure and the hospital or lab bills her $1200. Medicare says it is worth $169 and that is the end of the argument.

Which is why a National Health Plan makes so much sense. But the doctors and the dopers scared the crap out of Joe Sixpack and he didn't want it. And to be fair to the beer drinkers, the plan Billary presented was flawed to the extreme. Still, only Medicare has the clout to make prices reasonable. HMOs have tried and they are eating dirt. They just aren't big enough or powerful enough.
