I don't quite understand all the concern over cooling. I have a great solution for cooling....just leave the one side cover off. Now I'm probably going to get several messages telling me why this is a bad idea, safety concerns, someone touching and shorting out a chip etc. But I have done this for years with much success. To me it is not a big deal, right now I can think of 3 or 4 boxes I use on a daily basis, all without side covers. It also provides nice access when you change things out and test stuff as much as I do on a daily basis. Granted the boxes are always in an environment where I can control access, so I am not worried about the above issues.

With all of the heat issues lately with overclocking etc. I have been brainstorming / considering a case modification that would replace a large portion of the side panel with some type of screening / mesh material. I always thought the guts of a computer box were very cool. Why cover it up? I generally use a case with a 3 piece cover, you could cut a hole about 10" x 12" in the side panel and cover it with nice looking mesh, tight enough to control fingers poking but still with good airflow . If done right this could actually look very good. Great passive cooling without a dozen fans consuming power.

Some / most of you may think I'm nuts on this, but on a few boxes I have, the side panel was only there during shipping and has never been on since! In fact I probably can't find the covers! :)

Just one man's opinion....

Dan
