SCI Opens Site South Of The Border Contract electronics manufacturer SCI Systems Inc. has expanded its capacity in Mexico with the opening of a 100,000-sq.-ft. greenfield plant in Apodaca, a suburb of Monterrey. The Apodaca plant is the first phase of a planned multiphase project on the site for the Huntsville, Ala.-based company. The new facility is expected to complement SCI's existing manufacturing plants in Guadalajara and Mexico City. Initial products to be manufactured at the Apodaca plant will include DBS receivers for a European company, and subassemblies for medical products for a U.S.-based company.
