You believe I'm posing as an atheist! Truly, that is SO funny. I guess I'd better reiterate:

There is no God.

We are it.

It is up to us.

If we don't do it, no One will.

>Science has given us
methods for discovering truth,<

I gotta admit - this bugged me.
Science isn't about truth. It is about fact. Fact is a narrow subset of truth.
I would further contend that meaning is also a subset of truth. (But a save could be scored by suggesting that meaning is that part of truth which matters.)

Thus right from the git-go I have an issue with definitions - and I probably would be dissuaded from following Ken's argument further.
Good weekend to all - Alex
