Hi Mohan

I had a friend just come back from Bombay. He had some horror stories. Wonder if you have any news from your sources. he said

1. Daylight armed bank and store robberies have become commonplace
2. Anyone buying a car is contacted for extortion. Rs, 25,000 for a maruti and Rs. 50,000 for a Ford.
3. Anyone driving an expensive car is subject to extortion
4. Anyone holding a wedding in almost any hotel, hall or covered grounds is subject to extortion.
5. All movie producers have to pay protection.
6. All producers MUST hire MUSLIM MALES and Hindu FEMALES.
7. NO producer can HENCEFORTH hire Madhuri since this guy in DUBAI wants ot marry her. It is rumored that assoon as she finishes her last film she will migrate to the US and is reportedly going to marry some doctor.
8. Apparently all of this extortion is controlled from Dubai.
9. The other extortionists are the Shiv Sena.
10. Everyone is afraid since the police are on the take.
11. If they want to enjoy their money, they either go out of town or mostly overseas where they can safely spend their money.
12. Last Diwali even jewelry stores were empty since most folks were afraid of seeing in those stores.
13. Guns are readily available and are everywhere.

SAD. There used ot be a time in Bombay when anyone. male or female, was able to go out into the street late at night or even early hours of the morning and consider it safe. Now it has become a war zone and will probably only get worse.
