Brooke,

From the Garyspeak archive:

By getting rid of the data cd and disk buffer, and then creating a file format that is both compact and quick to read, the code was simplified, and the disk i/o optimized much better than before.

My impression was that both daily and historical are to be combined at one location for scan speed efficiencies. Still waiting for proto proof.

Craig

Do you mean the diskbuff? Will it still be possible to put daily data on one drive and the diskbuff on another?

The disk buffer will soon be a memory. That feature is responsible for the slow performance.

We did ship several today, and a few more will go out tomorrow. Since they went out by express mail, you should get it this weekend.
