DO you think there is any truth to the rumor that the CEO wanted earning to miss the street to reduce the price so we would all vote for the disney deal. Couldnt they have played games to hide to expected cost of the merger and report say a 5 cent loss?

I remember when the Disney deal first appeared and the street seemed to value it as a bad deal for SEEK (I was long SEEK at the time) a lot of rumors started spreading about how the CEO had these meta plans that look bad on the surface but will actually accomplish SEEK great boons in the future. To me, at least, it just doesn't make sense. It smells too much of rationalization. Even if these rumors are true they don't say much about SEEK managment. Actually, for the sake of investors I hope these rumors are not true...
I agree with tk that SEEK simply couldn't pull it off this quarter. That's why I'm disheartened when the CEO comes out a week before earnings and touts the company knowing full well that this may definitely not the best time to get into SEEK, at least not for the short term.
SEEK is not a joke but it is no YHOO either. Also, if SEEK does indeed go sub-20 as a result of the earning report, I wonder how long it could keep channelling between the teens and 30's. Eventually it will have to break out of it: if the DIS deal is successful then we may be looking at a $100 stock in the long term , but if not then the downside doesn't look too pretty.
Short term, though, I don't see anything that can help SEEK climb up. MM may hold the price up for a while to try and get rid of all the shorts who are going for the easy ride, but even then I think SEEK is facing some hard times for the coming weeks.
Good luck to all,
Rommy
