I'll bet all the folks at COMS have noticed the price hop today,

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 1998--3Com Corp., a global networking
leader, today officially opened its new Singapore manufacturing plant,
the largest 3Com manufacturing investment in Asia Pacific Rim.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Lee Yock Suan, Singapore Minister
for Trade and Industry.

3Com's new facility, named 3Com Technologies, is one of the first major
manufacturing bases to be established in Asia by a major player in the
global networking industry. Located in Changi Industrial North and
occupying 27,870 square meters (330,000 square feet) of floor space,
the plant will manufacture a wide range of 3Com products
such as EtherLink(R) network interface cards, award-winning
U.S. Robotics(R) modems, SuperStack(R) hubs, other desktop
and LAN switching products, Total Control(TM) remote access
concentrators, and the best-selling PalmPilot(TM) connected
organizer.(1)


In addition to manufacturing operations, the site also houses a logistics
center, an Asia Pacific Rim (APR) customer administration and customer
training center, a network operations center and a distribution center
that oversees regional channel support.

During the official opening ceremony, Soo Kok Leng, vice president &
managing director of 3Com Technologies said: "Today is the culmination
of many months of hard work and development for 3Com. I am delighted
and proud to unveil this state-of-the-art facility, the embodiment of
3Com's continued commitment to the region."

Doug Spreng, senior vice president, 3Com Corp., commented at the opening:
"Asia offers exciting growth opportunities for 3Com. We are determined
to make a long-term commitment to add even more value to our customers
and business partners in this region. This new facility will enable us
to be strategically placed to deliver seamless end-to-end networking
solutions to end users, businesses and network carriers across APR."

The new manufacturing plant runs 24 hours a day. With a maximum
employee capacity of 2,000, the plant is expected by the year 2000
to produce the full range of 3Com networking equipment.
