UNITEC WINS THIRD BRAZILLIAN SCADA PROJECT

Unitec International Controls Corporation today announced it has won its third international competitive bid for a Water SCADA system for Sanepar, the State of Parana, Brazil Water Utility. The contract is valued at approximately $700,000.

According to John B. Smyth, President, Unitec received the highest score under the technical evaluation by a substantial margin over the closest competitor.

This system will consist of a dual redundant Master Station and 78 remote monitoring and control stations. Unitec's UIC-I/P intelligent radio communications program, virtual reality graphical user interface and high reliability architecture were key factors in winning its high technical rating.

This contract will be delivered in the 1999 fiscal year.

Unitec is an emerging growth company specializing in advanced technology telemetry, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and environmental monitoring equipment for the water, electricity, oil & gas and transportation sectors. Thanks Wendy, the process was a two envelope procedure with the technical submissions being opened first. We learned that we won the technical proposal evaluation a few weeks ago. The margin was substantial, but the final award is based on a formula of technical points and price. To beat us, the next closest bidder would have to have a price considerably lower than ours.

The pricing envelope was opened today, and we were also the lowest bidder. One of the advantages our technology has is that it provides a more cost effective solution than most of our competitors. I would add that new developments are underway to push the technology and competitive lead even further.

Regards,

John
