OT RE: Ottawa

There once was a man from Quebec
Who was buried in snow to his neck.
When asked "is you friz?"
He replied "Yes, I is."
And was immediately arrested for using the English language.

O.T. - "low flush" (1.6 gallon flush) toilets

Incidentally, Dave Barry, in today's local paper, wrote that Canada should be invaded by the USA because they are selling toilets with large flush volumes to Americans who are legally only allowed 1.6 gallons or something. I thought his article was a riot.

I have not yet seen Dave Barry's latest on toilets, but, when he wrote about the same topic a year or so ago, I think he said (a week or two later) that that column on "low flush" toilets had triggered the most mail of any column ever !

Do you know that the reason "our government" forced these poorly functioning toilets upon us is -- in a whole year, using average water cost figures, a low flush model will save something like $59 worth of water ? (I have no idea what quantity of water that translates into).

Do you know the going rate for a plumber to fix a plumbing problem (or, to install a Canadian toilet) ?

Jon.

Funny you speak of Dave Barry, all the squirrels here have disappeared. Guess it's time to get out the duct tape and take down the shoes. Goofy Season can't be far off.

On the phone front, I see that our local carrier is on the ball. In preparation for the coming Goofy Season they have just announced the QPC2700F bellmobility.com You will notice that the "F" is for the little flap to keep the keyboard warm, cozy and free of spraying ice particles. This will be exceptionally useful during Near North skidoo expeditions.

Tero, I do appreciate your time on this thread. I would only remind you that all of those nifty Nokia phone innovations may well be coming to a CDMA phone near us real soon. Just as Qualcomm can't dominate CDMA, your favorite outfit won't be able to dominate innovative phones. I would also like to say that your comparison of CDMA outside Korea and North America to GSM in South Africa is very interesting. I never thought of it that way before. Thanx for that insightful thought.

W Houston, Thanx for the 3G page numbers. More fodder for the commited.

Well Mqurice, My Yahoo ticker just flashed $60. Foolishly, I thought it screamed $80. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
