Satmex 5 . . .

Next event is the launch of Satmex 5 on or about Nov. 24, on an Ariane 42L from Kourou. This a Hughes built satellite, as it was ordered in August 1996, before Loral aquired Satmex. The latest earnings report indicated that the pre-launch booked capacity is about 35 %. I will post a link to the Arianespace press kit on this launch, just as soon as they put it on their website. There may be a live webcast of this launch, although the last Ariane webcast came from a German source that was badly overloaded. Here is some details on the satellite:

SatMex 5 (previously Morelos III)
SatMex 5 is a Hughes 601 HP and will carry a payload of 24 C-band and 24 Ku-band transponders. With 7,615 Watts of power, SatMex 5 is ten times more powerful than its predecessor, Morelos II. To be located at 116.8° W.L., SatMex 5 will expand Morelos II's coverage, with a footprint extending from Canada to Argentina. SatMex 5 will have a 15 year minimum life expectancy.
