Why is NDS such a threat to Microsoft??
BECAUSE NDS GOES HIGH!!
During Internet Wave 2, growth will be defined, gifte and shared by companies that "go high".
What does this mean?
It means embracing the true essence of the Internet Model......
Here's a story to with images to ponder on when you think about Microsoft and the rest of the "old model" - kill and blow people away - guys.
A TALE FROM "HIGH"......
Imagine flying "high" at, say, 40,000 feet - on a Tier 1 dark fiber racehorse conduit/pipe that can take you above all the crap and fray, letting the user look down in this Old Business Model valley and see this vast landscape of companies that are sitting like fat pigs waiting to be slaughtered in a very loving benevolent kind of way - say for the church Sunday breakfast in town with families and the pastor.
But these pigs look more like objects - some shaped like pyramids, some like hourglasses, some platters, some balls, etc. The shape of the objects - ie. companies - are determined by their mindset, mission, values, etc.
Right smack in the center of this dark valley is this dark, forboding, prickly, steam/smoke and fire spewing pyramid that grew out of nowhere over the past several years. There are lines, hooks, tentacles, chains and wires coming out of this pyramid that extend to a vast and growing list of smaller, plain vanilla balls and boxes and hourglasses that evoke more light than they do darkness. Where these objects connect to the lines that extend to the
pyramid we notice this dark, smelly - almost corrupt - area that is not vanilla and plain.
These objects have succumbed to the power of this pyramid for the sake of money. Their lifespan is fixed. Soon they will be absorbed - eaten - by this dark foreboding monster that keeps spewing threats, anger and hate - creating a whole lotta fear all around.
For years this valley was covered with clouds and the sun rarely shown. The last time the sun shown was when this new force called "high" came through. It was virtual, everywhere, platformless, almost spiritual. Like a white knight it came over the horizon to shine light on this dark valley and the denizens of serfdom almost got hopefull.
At first, the dark force pyramid ignored the intruder. But before long it spewed fire and hate in the path of this new valley citizen that was trying to make friends with everyone. Very quickly the force gathered together its power and struck ALL the remaining rounded vanilla balls and objects out there. It even succeeded at forcing the biggest new online friendly vanilla ball to corrupt itself with a "line" for its short term benefit.
So the darkness came over this valley once again. Fear and uncertainty swept the land. Those not "hooked" were hooked for good. These dark pyramid forces were mean, merciless and took no prisoners. The world shook and good minded men looked away for fear of angering this force.
But the force did not stop there. On it went on a rampage throughout the corporate world - buying, wining and dining the higher-ups on the virtues of their shell game paradigm. Look not at what we do, just what we say. We ARE where it's at, PERIOD!!! These corporate tigers were besot, amazed, flattered and mesmerized at this display of smoke, mirrors and power. The wizard himself would have been proud. Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My!!!

Group after group after group - CEO's, SVP's, Presidents, Chairmen, Board Members, Titans of Global Enterprises - all came walking into this land of Oz and make their trek into the long hallway inside the center of the core of this dark, impressive pyramid. They were told in no uncertain terms to "GO BACK AND FIND THAT BROOM AND I WILL ALLOW YOU TO RETURN TO HOME TO YOUR PROMISED LAND...."
One after another, these big chiefs directed their IT/IS/technical staff to find these "old" brooms and kill off legacy this and that. What a witch hunt it was. Decisions were made right and left to dismantle years of procedures, structure, security, integrity and core infrastructure for something untested, shallow, and weak.
IT/IS staffs the world over saw drastic changes as upstart - know enough to be dangerous - staff members saw an opening to hitch their stars to lines pointing to this pyramid. It looked as if a total rout was on. These green minions were full of piss and vinager. Touting "new" this and that, not mindful of the implications of their moves.
MANY of these hourglasses and balls in the valley started to develop a cancer on their otherwise plain vanilla skin. It was as if the landscape of these corporate entities all came down with some dreaded terminal disease - AIDS???? The lines to the pyramids got bigger and weighed more now. These former independent bouncing balls were now simply rolling along toward the center where this dark force grew more ugly and powerful - spewing more fire,
smoke and steam.
Fear and awe filled the land. It looked as if the pyramid had a cap on all these lines of control and power, but there was one problem.
One of the brightest balls in the valley was suddenly getting brighter. People from all around had felt this ball was simply going to lose its air, roll away and die off. But now the ball was not only getting bigger, it was beginning to bounce. An aura of light began to encircle this ball as it rolled through this valley of darkness. The sickly looking balls and other objects that were tied to the dark pyramid were getting somewhat annoyed and uncomfortable - more with the light, less with the ball. The light from this ball had a way of exposing these other formerly plain vanilla balls and objects - infections, holes, rashes, purple and black spots, etc.
Now this ball is not only bouncing, its starting to levitate under this new platter of light. This light and the power of this new beam or force coming from the ball is now shining down on each object in the valley - not only exposing what's there on the surface, but potentially what's there underneath...deep inside.
This platter or wave of "light" is a virtual plane that is higher than even the dark pyramid. All objects in the dark valley now can look high and seek this new force, feel this new energy, see that it is perfectly aligned with the power and light they remember was there a few years ago when the force of "high" entered the land.
Could this be "high's" second coming? "High" is gone eveyone claims, capped by the pyramid as the world waits for the Year 2000 and years beyond before they make changes.
But this is a different "high". Somehow this "high" is more like one of us. This light from this ball is finding its way INTO other objects in the valley - making a huge difference. Balls are once again beginning to bounce as they open up. Light is beginning to come back. The plain, clean vanilla skin is coming back on more and more objects. More important, there is this growing sense of powerful change afoot. Something is happening out there that's truly different this time.
Time seems to be speeding up. "High" is back inside even the lines that are becomming less and less dependent on the power of of the pyramid. One of the bigger balls with one of the biggest chains this week even decided to tell the truth about a BIG lie that the pyramid tried to pull off to other balls in the valley. What an example! Such courage! Things are changing. Mindshare is shifting away from fear and toward this growing awareness of the power of "high". Going "high" is all about opening up, sharing, caring, growing the pie, feeling that life is not a zero sum game and that there truly are NO LIMITS!!
Now this ball we've been caring for is about to become the sun over this new valley. It is rising higher and higher. All objects below HAVE to open up to the power of "high" or else become unbundled in this massive very quick industry leadership changing wave we call "2".
You can't go "2 high". There are NO LIMITS! We have lift off. Even 77 year olds can fly to outer space. NDS is this new "Sun". All will benefit as the entire world has to open up. Those that don't will die.
