The Barrons article that Patrice refers to says - I will give the short version.
Jordan tried to rein in Karmazin because he though that he was being too hard on the news division and lacked sensivity to the integerity of the new division. Karmazin apparently told the board that either Jordan goes or he would go , the board told Jordan that it was time to take his retirement three years early.
My opinion, Jordan was stupid to take on Mel, he should have known he would loose - look for Reynolds to retire soon also. Jordan and Karmazin would never have lasted long anyway one came from the corporate structure and the other was an enterprising business man.
Look for more changes at the network.
