Yoav,<<If you want me to break it down into simple terms, however, I still don't see what your issue is, >> My issue is simple. You are posting gross misinformation. You have a major misunderstanding about the drive industry and various facts within it. For example when I said, in response to your claim that Micropolis was "super duper big", that they had never been big in the sense of market share, you persist by saying: <<"You have to look at what they did - was a first in major mega storage manufacture geared towards high end LAN backup. It was the drive of choice by Lockheed Martin concerning storage protection and encription, etc......" >> In no way was Micropolis the first company to offer RAID systems for high end back up. You display, in this statement alone, a misunderstanding of the back-up function in a LAN. The fact is, there is no one offering RAID systems for back-up as a primary function. RAID systems provide on-line storage for mission critical data, that in turn, are backed up, typically on tape in most enterprise systems. When you say "You have to remember what they did", I do. They went bankrupt. I urge you to do a great deal more homework in the DD industry and on Western-Digital in particular before you contemplate holding an investment in this company. Your spiel is salt in the wound of knowledgeable investors who, at least tried to do legitimate homework on this industry, and have held this stock since the $30s and $40s. In my opinion WDC has a huge hurdle ahead of it and is the weakest in the pack of first tier DD suppliers. Stitch PS, try not to sign your posts with my nickname next time.
