Texasdude, <<<Why Dan did these Christian academies start springing up in mass numbers in the 1960's and are still occuring today. Dan, the answer is integration. Blacks are good for slavery, but not good enough for association with white children of Christians in 1998.>>> Having been born down south, deep down south Alabama I can relate to the issues of segregation. I'm not saying it is or ever was right because it was all based upon fear, mistrust and prejudism. For a people that don't really trust in God I don't expect the walls will come down easily. Those walls will come down by force. Consider the military, their standards of tolerance are more noble than the common people as a whole IMO. During the 1960's there were isolated race riots on board some of the vessels between blacks and whites. Neither wanting to submit to the authority of the other. It caused many missions to be aborted. However, when an instigator stood before the "Old man" at captains mast and had to account for his actions there was a lot of reflecting going on. He would ask himself, is this worth losing my money, rank and priviledges? Perhaps I could do a little better on my part, at least to save my own skin. Some didn't conform and got the boot, the smarter ones got the message. Nowadays I see all different nationalities working together to fullfil the mission with very little clashing going on. I used to teach Navy Rights and Responsibilities so I know a little of what I'm talking about. A lot of Christian schools are popping up across the nation because of things like bible reading being illegal in the public classrooms, prayer is frowned upon and humanism is rampant. If you want to see integration then I invite you to take a look at the private Christian school my child attends. There are Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Black,Puerto Rican, Guamanian, Phillipino, Caucasion, Hawaiian,... and the list goes on. But when it comes to the teachers you won't find humanists, athiests, gay activists, women libbers, etc. The reason being is that a Christian church should have it's arms open to all the peoples of the world but not to embrace its false doctrines. Its mission is to teach young people the principles of God and to avoid ungodly influences. Chris
