I have had the good fortune to tour both companies. There is no comparison. Dalsa is a leading edge technology. It seems that IPV is more of an integrator. The buy some Dalsa camera for use in their products. They have a few bright people and lots of marketing staff but are a very different culture than Dalsa. Dalsa is almost like an extension to a University setting. It is led by a brilliant and very disciplined scientist who is also a good business man. The balance sheet tell the story. IPV is led by a group who are marketers but don't have the same level of understanding as to where to take the technology. I found it quite alarming to see people smoking in the offices and it speaks for the culture. My money is on Dalsa. IPV will need a change in leadership I believe and a tighter control of the purse strings before it is going to get any more cash and go anywhere. This is just my opinion of course but a visit tells you a lot. There were many busy technology people at Dalsa. I saw little technical content at IPS and lots of marketing personnel.
