Ish, Im sure you were trying to make a different point with your post but on this issue of money, Im not sure most Republicans really need money from individual contributors the way Dems do. The situation we have here in Ca is completely different. We have some guys out here that are so rich they will contribute heavily and vote for the republican candidate no matter what his stance is on other issues. These republican fundraisers out here are these lavish events. In contrast, we have a case now where the Dem candidate is a moderate and better for the state than the republican so us non-super rich people need to contribute to him to make him a viable candidate.

The best way to get money from individuals is like this: Have a party at someones exclusive home or country club. Everybody that comes to the party has to donate (well it isnt required but everybody will). Make it into a professional contacts sort of thing. We collected almost $80K this way, which was a significant amt. I had a lot of fun giving the party... it might have cost $$ but we borrowed someones house and the hors doevres were home made and the wine was donated. Mixed drinks are too expensive, it has to be a wine and beer thing.
