Mylex Earns 1998 Outstanding Product Award From Performance Computing Magazine

Mylex DACPJM RAID Controller Named 'Storage Gem'

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 1998--Mylex Corporation,
(Nasdaq:MYLX - news) the world's leading vendor of RAID controllers in the
non-captive systems marketplace, today announced that its DACPJM RAID controller has
earned Performance Computing's prestigious 1998 Outstanding Product Award.

The DACPJM, which is featured on page 29 of the magazine's December issue, is one of
only eight products to win the award this year.

Mark Hall, editor in chief of Performance Computing, will present the award to Al
Montross, Mylex president and CEO, during a ceremony to be held tomorrow at Mylex's
world headquarters in Fremont. The DACPJM will be showcased this month at Comdex,
Suite N253.

The editors complimented the DACPJM for its high performance, fault-tolerance,
configuration flexibility, advanced firmware and extensive RAID management tools.

According to the editors, ''The controller's performance is among the best you can find
and is loaded with features you need. If you are dissatisfied with your server's
performance, have narrowed the slowdown to the (RAID) controller, and are ready to
swap it out, you might consider evaluating Mylex's DAC960PJ design in its non-OEM
package: the DACPJM, which is available through resellers.''

''We are honored to accept this award,'' said Eric Herzog, vice president of marketing.
''Mylex's DAC960PJ architecture provides advanced fault-tolerance, on-board processing
power, and exceptional network connectivity to yield the highest possible performance in
mid-range and high-end server environments. This award is a testament to Mylex's
industry leading family of RAID controllers.''

DAC960PJ Delivers Record-Setting Performance

The DAC960PJ has broken more Transaction Processing Council (TPC-C) world records
than any other controller. The DAC960PJ achieves its award-winning performance by
combining an onboard 66MHz Intel (Nasdaq:INTC - news) i960RD (r) RISC processor
with Mylex's own firmware and RAID accelerator.

The DAC960PJ features up to three Ultra SCSI channels, each offering data throughput
of up to 40 MB per second per channel. The controller supports memory configurations
up to 128 MB and scalable single-server storage capacity up to 810 gigabytes using 18
GB capacity drives.

Mylex Offers Industry's Broadest Line of RAID Controllers

Mylex offers the industry's most complete line of high performance, highly fault-tolerant
RAID controllers, with products ideally suited for high-performance desktops, entry-level
servers, mid-range servers, and enterprise-class super-servers.

Mylex's product line includes low-cost host-based internal RAID adapters such as the
AcceleRAID family; high-performance PCI RAID controllers such as the DAC960PJ and
eXtremeRAID; and high-performance external RAID controllers such as the DAC960SX,
the DACSF and the DACFL. All Mylex products can be remotely managed in enterprise
environments with Mylex's GAM RAID management software, which ships standard with
all Mylex products.

Mylex's product line provides support for all the latest disk drive interface technologies,
including Ultra SCSI, Ultra2 SCSI LVD and Fibre Channel. Mylex's product line supports
Windows NT, Unix, Linux, NetWare and most other desktop and server operating
systems.
