richard, another point is that hospitals, like nearly all businesses. tend to over pay. my company used to put on a lot of pizza parties. each pie was $14 or so. we'd spend $500+ a pop. once i found out the price i negotiated a good deal with another pizza place and got essentially the same product for 40% less.

i treat opm like it was my own. most people don't.

Richard, Most of what you say is right. However, any industry that is allowed to run without regulation often kills the consumers and, sometimes, innocent bystanders, such as tobacco and street drugs. I don't think we need less regulation. We need less bad regulation and more good regulation. And the welfare of the citizenry should be the criteria, not lobbyist contributions to Congressional races. And the do-gooders spread as much bad regulation as the villains prevent good regulation.
