Cav, re: ivillage and frye media

1. I don't really have a way of checking ivillage's 66 million page views. To put it in perspective, however, Yahoo got 65 million page views in December 97 (for comparison, 114 million September 98).

So is ivillage really as big now, as Yahoo was 11 months ago? Half the volume of Yahoo currently? Ask 10 friends to see who's heard of Yahoo and who's heard of ivillage (not a very scientific method, but a 'real world' result, nonetheless).

2. Never heard of Frye Media so I did a phrase match at Yahoo, Hotbot, and Excite. Doesn't exist according to those three search engines. I'd be happy to try WKWG's if they ever get it up. At any rate, it's pretty difficult to search the web for web designers and not find them.

As far as top designers go, Frye Media should have sample work and client lists on their site. Compare them to those of top designers like Clement Mok at Studio Archetype studioarchetype.com , or Dave Siegel of Verso verso.com Also look at some lower-tier firms like:
zada.com
typographic.com
razorfish.com

That will give you an idea of what 'top designers' do. Another helper is checking Communication Arts, an award for site for top designs: commarts.com as well as High Five: highfive.com If Frye is at the 'top' level, somebody here will know them for sure.
