Perry,

Thank you for pointing that out.

Again, I have no problem with the testing of novel drugs. The question is still there. Why do we need a government agency to supervise the testing? Would it not be in the best interests of a drug company to perform the testing, or better yet, have an independent laboratory perform the tests, posting the results at a website and publishing the results in a journal? After all, if a company gets the reputation for peddling bad drugs, won't that hurt sales?

Wouldn't it be nice to go to a Silicon Investor type of site where comments could be made regarding developments for all drugs and companies? There could be a thread for professionals with published credentials and the postings would be peer reviewed. Another section could be for individuals with personal experiences. And one for crackpots like myself. There could be a FAQ section by drug and company. An FAQ on how to tell a good test from a bad. The possibilities are endless.

There would have to be some strong moderation to prevent abuses, but it could be done. Now that would be an excellent role for the FDA to play. They could help keep a level playing field. If there is something they feel needs to be said, they could issue official warnings, etc., etc.

Well, I have to get going.

Again, thanks for the observation on the animal testing.

Jack
