Skeets,
In any given year the number of acceptances to med school has been relatively constant, the number of applications has varied. I've been told that app's @ IU are high presently. The AMA realizes that there is a relative oversupply of specialists compared to primary care docs. Presently doc's are encouraged to go into primary care fields. This is accomplished by lowering specialty fees and creating a more primary doctor intensive field. It's all supply/demand.
I've been told that programs are cutting med school and residency positions because of economics, thus the supply down the road should diminish.
Regards,
Brice
