I think only a full & complete Impeachment and removal from Office of Clinton would lead to your scenario; or rather ''close'' to your scenario... I would say DOW 5-6000 with a removal from office AND a blowup in Japan or Brazil, or the failure/bailout of a ''major'' US Financial Institution due to hedge/trading losses... You're calling for a 80% retraction from here ? LT that's OSX @ 14 !? LT, do you REALLY believe that; or is a little of this for the dramatic effect ? I would be the first to agree that the overall market is way over-valued. Techs and nifty 50 Blue Chips especially so... The financials, I believe are a good barometer; they are no where near their prior highs; as they are ''ultra-sensitive'' to economic reality. When they don't bounce; and I'm talking about ones that do NOT have ANY (ZERO) International/Hedge Fund exposure... Regional Banks, Small Town Savings & Loans; many, many less than 1/2 of their 52 week highs & many at 2 year lows... When the financials are soft; the rest of the market had better take heed... But, OSX 14 ? a 80% drop ? C'Mon LT, you at least ''gotta splain'' something here... do we have Armageddeon looming ? What is soooooo baaaaad that we could be looking at an 80% ? retracement ? ...if OPEC breaks down, if Crude continues to soften, if we continue to get weak dayrates & utilization - you will not see me say we can't go to prior lows; and if Clnton gets impeached & removed from office; I just may be buying my first "Gold-Bug'' stocks <VBG> ! ...you at least owe us a ''theory'' of this Inter-Galactical meltdown ? My ''taunts'' are tongue in cheek here Luke, you are obviously a bright guy; but - you have to give us more than some psychobabble the world is ending and everyone in the USA is just going to decide to simultaneously sell everything one day at 11 a.m.....scenario.
