my pick:

KNT...closing price 16 3/16......this is a takeover play for me and when i first put it out a few weeks back after the earnings were released the stock was at 9 and change.

it has made a great run coming off a bad earnings report in just 3 weeks (almost a double)....the rumor floating around is that AVT will make an offer of 24$ per share..

disclaimer:

this is only a rumor and is the reason i'm playing the so DON'T base your trading off of myself or anyone else, always do massive DD on every stock you enter.

My pick is DELL.
Dell has traditionally traded up prior to earnings release, which is Nov 12th after the close. Hope to see 71+ before the week is over. I will sell a portion of my holdings on Monday morning (assume a gap up as it has most mornings lately) and trade it a couple of times a day. I plan on staying long until the earnings release but I may get out entirely prior to the close on the 12th since everything seems to trade down after earnings are released. I am planning a similar strategy for CSCO but I did not stay long over the weekend because I didn't get a chance to buy back in on Friday afternoon.

Charley, my picks SWRX. IPO'd at the worst possible time. Time for it to go back to IPO price. And, SOFTWORKS reported that Total revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 1998 increased 62.9% to $11.2 million, as compared to $6.9 million for the same period in 1997. Operating income for the period increased 250% to $1.2 million from $334,000 for the same period in 1997. The revenue increase was attributable to a 90.9% increase in software license revenue over the third quarter in 1997. Additionally, SOFTWORKS' continuing expansion of its international sales force has resulted in a 140% increase in international license revenue to $1.5 million, over the same period in 1997. For the quarter ended September 30, 1998 SOFTWORKS had net income of $537,000 as compared to $127,000 for the same period in 1997.

I think the picks should be based on the closing price on Fridays---seems like the other way could get too complicated? Jan

Charley
Put me down for SQNT this week.
Reasons: 1)$3.50/sh in cash 2)book value around $12 3)better than expected QTR3 results 4)strong backlogs 5)working on new UNIX deal with IBM/INTC 6)good volume Friday 7)chart on strong upward move with 13day/SMA crossing 50 day/SMA late last week.

Thanks, Tom

Thanks Charley. Here's my pick...

TZA

Why?
1. TV Azteca has undergone big cost-cutting in recent months
2. Their position in the Mexican market is second, of course, but they have a lock on it
3. Expansion to other Latin nations ongoing
4. Coverage by two houses initiated Friday, both BUYS.
5. Most importantly, IMF deal a go and the wave affects Mexico's co's.
