>>This should burn off the black cloud which has hanging over IOM's head like the one over Mr. Mtspltyk's (There's an "x" in that somewhere, I think, any Li'l Abner fans still out there?) and bring back a fair valuation.<<

Cameron -

I think you're confusing a Lil' Abner character with one from Superman comics. Mr. Mxyzptlk. Superman always had to trick him into saying his name backwards to make him go back to his own dimension. (By the way, that's pronounced "mix yez pittel ik.")

The Lil' Abner guy was Joe Bfstplk.

Now if I could only remember things that matter.

Just for the record I agree with much of what is in your post. I think that the price bashing experienced by Iomega was mostly deserved, though. But it is true that most of what was wrong with the company has been or is being fixed.

I don't know about next year. It isn't clear whether or not Sony's forthcoming HiFD will put a serious hurt on Zip. Some believe it will, some believe it won't, but nobody knows until the product is actually in the marketplace. But I do believe that the HiFD is the most credible threat so far.

Earnings of .12 for Q1 '99 seems a bit too optimistic. I'd love to see that, but I'd be happy with any positive number of .05 or above.
