That is a shocking story >>>>>A friend of ours, a doctor, stopped and saw a 8 year old <<<, and here's another one: two lawyers suing a co on behalf of a child who was burned severely in a tent fire, negotiating a settlement that had an up-front payment equal to their fee and with the remainder to be paid out over several years. They took their fee, and when the boy's father protested that it didn't leave enough money to pay the Dr. bills, these two stalwarts of the legal profession then sued to have the father removed as custodian of his son and to be replaced by them. The judge was going to go along with this until the father secured different counsel, who then sued the original lawyers...and the press got wind of it.

The point being that with both lawyers and doctors, there will continue to be abuses; it's an unfortunate side of human nature. The abuses would, IMHO, be somewhat lessened in number and severity if their respective boards, bars, or whatever has jurisdiction over their misconduct, was comprised of something other than only professionals in the field on which they're supposedly riding herd.

In other words, we shouldn't have the foxes minding the hen house.
