Doc....
You have to look at the bench testing for the applications. Some good sites to take a look at bench testing

www.pcworld.com
www.pcmagazine.com
www.tomshardware.com (excellent techie site!)

The speed is not a linear function......
i.e. a 266MHz is NOT 2 times faster than a 133MHz

David,

If your 133 is slow now with the applications you use most often, then the 300Mhz PII will work out to be about 4-6 times faster in raw CPU power - easily. Does that mean 4-6 times faster for all your applications? Maybe not. It all depends on how the software was written. Generally speaking though, there are huge differences between the Pentium and Pentium II CPU's. Any PII flavor is going to speed you up quite a bit if you are feeling the pinch on your 133 now.
