Boring Sunday, eh, Clarence

Yeah, everytime I lie down (maybe thats the problem) to continue reading the 1000 pg 'Optimizing WinNT" I fall asleep. <g>

This authors commentary on NT and IDE devices is best summarized by his section heading for this discussion.. like oil and water. His advice for Optimal performance with NT is use SCSI all the way.

I'm hoping that my intended use for this computer as a real time trading (data server of sorts) machine classifies it as non disk intensive and the fact that my drives, cd-rom, tape are all IDE, serves to justify my machine as an exception to the oil and water pronouncement. I'm not completely convinced of 'exception status' and hope I'm not making a mistake by using all IDE devices w/ NT OS.

Also I'm feeling a little anxious since I first spoke to pcnut about my spec's a week ago and have not been able to get their attention again after two phone calls and two emails.

My attempts at humor are merely a masking of high anxiety relating to my choices for this first PC machine..<g>.. I think>
