Alan,

I have a question about axes. I started looking at the Nasdaq monthly vol site to verify my ideas on who the axes were on stocks I trade. I was shocked to find that in seven stocks I follow, the number one and two volume dealers were NITE and MASH on all of them! This was totally not what I expected. For example, I've followed XCIT for months and always watched MLCO as the dominant trader. MLCO does happen to be number 3 in vol in XCIT for 98. I don't recall seeing NITE or MASH on the inside all that much on XCIT. On Dell, I assumed GSCO was the axe, yet GSCO is number 3 after NITE and MASH.

Do you have any insights on this?

Rick
