A Little Late Night Waxing.... Joe, Good to see you back. Nothing like the various hues of indigo to challenge and elevate the spirit. You do have a gift for this Mr. Medsker. DCI Evolution: Blue Light Special to Blue Plate Special...to Blue Chip? I know anything can happen in the market, but much of what Bruce just generously posted along with your encouraging missives reminds me of a story I posted on SI a couple of years ago. True Story Regarding Faith In A Company: Back in the early 40's my dad first started working at West Publishing Company (then located on Kellogg Avenue) in St. Paul, Minnesota. He used to go to this small working man's bar in downtown St. Paul after work to have a few beers with his friends. Everybody knew everybody then. St. Paul is still a small town in many ways. There were several guys that used to come to this bar who worked at this small start up company. The company made sandpaper and a few other products having to do with abrasives an adhesives. Every two weeks the employees were paid partly in company stock (just a few shares) but the company wasn't doing well at the time and several of these employees were disgruntled as they weren't being paid all that well to begin with. The owner of this little bar would exchange beers to his patrons who didn't want their company stock. My dad said most of the patrons didn't have that much faith in a company whose main product was sand glued on a piece of paper. Anyway, the bar owner had faith in the management of this company and because of that he believed the company would go somewhere. At the very least, by giving beer for stock, it kept his customers happy. My dad (78 and a wonderful, sensitive, loving man) has that "knack" of keeping in touch with people he's known all his life who are still in the St. Paul area. That bar owner (a regular blue collar guy) who exchanged his beers for 3M employee stock in the early 40's died a few years ago worth well over 35 million dollars...all from those "beer for stock" exchanges on faith. Absolutely true story. ---------------------------- It occurred to me you can't even buy a decent 1998 beer in a bar for the price of one share of DCTC right now. Although I know DCI will likely not achieve the success of 3M, I do hope we all have similar happy stories to tell about this company we all DO have faith in based on it's past performance and a management with refreshingly open integrity. About four years ago I had a choice to take a left with Iomega or a right with another company. Unfortunately, I took the right. This time (I wish from my heart for all of us) I feel I've chosen the correct direction. ONWARD!!!!!!!! George
