Worldwide offshore rig count climbs by two


HOUSTON: The worldwide offshore rig count increased slightly since last
week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig
count.

This week, 528 of the world's 610 mobile offshore drilling units are under
contract, a net increase of two over last week's count. Worldwide offshore
rig utilization is 86.6 percent.

The European offshore rig count declined by one since last week. Today,
107 of 113 offshore rigs deployed in European waters are under contract.
European offshore rig fleet utilization is 95.6 percent.

The Gulf of Mexico offshore rig count is unchanged from last week. Gulf of
Mexico drilling fleet utilization stands at 77.8 percent; 137 of the region's
176 offshore drilling rigs are under contract.
