FYI
The ITU, the global telecom industry standards-setting body, formally endorsed the G.992.2 standard (formerly known as G.Lite) for ADSL services on Thursday, October 22. This endorsement clears the way for the introduction of equipment and services based on the specification. The vote pushes the specification forward to ITU members for the letter ballot. Formal ratification is scheduled for June 1999. In contrast to full-rate asymmetrical digital subscriber line services and equipment, the G.992.2 standard is the basis of lower-speed, mass-market services without a splitter at the subscriber premise.

Where does this leave Westell?
