Carl - I think Scotty sees the full moon as a short term buy signal for gold - I don't know what prompts the sale. A further thought on the LTCM situation - as you put it, it seems that AG acted in the best interests of markets, and I think that is right. The problem it seems to me is that it has converted lenders (imprudent ones) into players - in that they are now part of the 90 % of management - so they are on both sides of the street now. Not that they aren't playing this game already for their own account in many cases - in other words banks are as into derivatives as hedge funds - but it has highlighted the issue. I have a sneaking feeling that some of the gunslingers at these institutions don't always understand their strategies - and certainly their bosses do not. E
