Dear Mark,
I understand that each family has their own views and even landmark celebrations for their family. However IMO Halloween has crossed the lines in recent years by impressing young people to do evil things with great consequences. The sacrifice of a 14 year old girl by a 17 year old boy this year not to mention cats and innocent animals. The holiday gives the impression of acceptance of evil to young immature and maybe twisted people. Please understand that I and my family have participated in this holiday as well, but just think that personally it is something I want my sons to see what it is all about before the TEEN years. Also, I have found that it does no harm but has done good for kids to make a stand for God not in the sense of other people but for themselves.
You would have a hard time finding another holiday that is not about God. Thanksgiving was in fact a celebration of God providing the new land and food. It is one of my favorites for it demonstrates two groups of people that could not get along coming together in peace to offer thanks to God.
Have a great week,
Nancy
