(snip, light, puff, puff...;)..hello, again.

Further to Malko's thoughts on Amazon/Ebay, specifically my post re PNLK & Amazon correlations...

I did not want to leave you with the impression that Amazon will find its match in PNLK, but only to point out that at their respective times, they both hold these similarities (IMO):

Pioneers in their field
Services/products sold exclusively via net
No real threat of substitution

Though many of these basic competitive advantages can said for many other firms, perhaps the real (puff, puff) key edge Amazon had was its marketing, almost fanatical in its application. They used every venue to push their brand name and service satisfaction record. No doubt you saw them everywhere on the WWW and related.

Marketing and selling are NOT the same. Marketing is finding about your target market and (hack, hack) selling is the actual act of putting the product into your intended target's hands.

ZZ, from what I have read, is a sharp guy. Bill on the HIll, et al, points out that once the $$$ comes in from subscriptions, PNLK will use such on marketing. IMO, marketing is the key in all this.

The old saying, Build a better (puff, puff) mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door"? Well, in this day and age, with SO much information flying about (information overload), the managers of PNLK and ZZ need to determine how their marketing strategy will help them sell their products clearly and effeciently - above the information noise. I am sure they are doing this.

IMO, I think everyone here agrees that PNLK is a good investment or, at least, a speculation in which to pour $$$. Accepting that, then our discussion should perhaps center on marketing efforts and how PNLK measures success in that field. And, yes, I have heard the arguement that if ZZ "reveals" his marketing strategy publicly, PNLK would lose an element of "surprise". To that I say "booger!". Just read Advertising Age, Sales and Marketing, Journal of Marketing, etc... and you'll see there are no secrets. Besides, who the heck would feel they would gain an advantage by studying PNLK's marketing strategy? What start up has the time?

well, now it's time for smoke....Royal Jamican, Parklane, wrapped in white tissue...smooth and nice ash....
