Say The 'I' Word - Now, Take Your Profits And Run

nypostonline.com

<< If you are an investor buying into the recent rally on Wall Street that was inspired by Alan Greenspan's emergency interest rate cut, you should say the word impeachment to yourself often over the next two days.

That's because tomorrow's Congressional elections - no matter what the outcome - are going to lead to one of the most disturbing periods ever for investors. More disturbing than even the meltdown of a host of foreign economies. More disruptive than the savings-and-loan crisis. More puzzling than the economic effects of the Gulf War. >>

I would think the market already reflects this possibility.

Hi Russell,

What are we going to do with these Americans?

The Ottawa Citizen had an article today reporting that US Customs are cracking down on Americans sneaking over the border to buy Canadian 3.5 gallon toilets and then smuggling them into the US where they are illegal.

Apparently, Americans are now getting most of their exercise via the toilet handle, since Congress mandated that toilets must now be 1.6 gallons or less.

I guess it is good for the balance of trade though, as long as they don't start stealing the ones in place.

DOUBLE STANDARTS

If the small guy does something - he goes to jail

If his banker does something - he gets bailed out by the FED

How many bankers went to jail for the S&L debacle??? very few,

How many borrowers went to jail?? many

Would time saved the borrowers - Yes.

Fact those that bought the troubled loans made money

So why put them in jail?? OH WELL that's the double standard.
Laws are design to keep the majority in check and prone for punishment at any turn, but also keep the FAT CAT"S or WELL connected above the law

Interesting articles in WSJ this morning about LTCM and the rescue package.
