I get the feeling the public ain't all that smart. Newt got the blame and Carvile bragged about how Slick shut the government down.

Les, again, how in the world can you say that? Republicans wanted to spend even more of the surplus on tax cuts.

On 1995, your line is Clinton shut down the government, as opposed to the widespread perception that Newt was more to blame. I guess that goes with the current line that Newt is non-partisan and professional, and the only value the Democratic party has is partisanship. It's all politics, and how all the evil in the western world ends up due to Clinton is beyond me.
