Results of a recent CSC world-wide IT exec survey from Infoweek - notice the #1 app cited by these buyers - cust service and maintaining customer loyalty is a REAL business and has crossed the chasm. Word from selected parts of the Clarify channel is that business is booming -

The use of packaged software with minimal customization was
the application method of choice for more than half of the
North American IT executives recently surveyed by Computer
Sciences Corp. The top function served by new systems:
customer service

These findings are part CSC's 11th annual Critical Issues of
Information Systems Management study, being released this
week. The study surveyed 594 IT executives around the world:
36% in North America, 16% in western Europe, and 48% in
Asia/Pacific.

While 77.5% of North American respondents outsource and
18.7% plan to do more outsourcing, Asia/Pacific respondents
are even more enthusiastic, as 80.4% outsource and 29.9%
plan to do more. By comparison, 68.6% of European
respondents outsource and 28.7% plan to do more. And in
North America and Asia/Pacific, more than a quarter of the
respondents have not ruled out doing more outsourcing.

The numbers for year 2000 projects, though, aren't
encouraging. More than a third of all respondents are still
renovating code. Only 21.4% of North American respondents,
16.3% of European respondents, and 11.8% of Asia/Pacific
respondents are deploying code that has been renovated and
tested. Still assessing the problem--and likely to suffer
year 2000 problems because of late starts--are 16.9% of
North American respondents, 11.6% in Europe, and 28.3% in
Asia/Pacific. --Bruce Caldwell

But scopus was a replacement of clarify (one of their first customers)to the tune of 4mm in license revenue
It appears they didn't buy into the siebel merger
