You forgot these other points in the article:

The creation of room-sized cells is necessary for the wireless distribution of video if radio waves in or near the 60-GHz band are used because of the characteristics of higher frequencies on the radio spectrum, said Shea Silidker, consultant in the personal communications unit of The Strategis Group Inc. in Washington, D.C. The higher the frequency, the lower the range of signals.

and,

Ubiquity for the Piano architecture, though, would mean millions of cells in any major market.

Wonder what that would cost?

The article and Motorola forgot to mention the solar, galactic, and cosmic, particle streams that bombard earth constantly. They are notorious for disrupting em broadcasts. Presumably MOT has re-transmission strategies in mind, although the velocity of light limitations restrict to what extent full motion video can be spared the herky-jerkys. And corporations don't mind losing a few zeros here and there on their books as long as they are in A/P.
