Interesting how the talk turns to mom's when you pop in. Don't quite know what to make of that.

<<It is very insulting and I wonder how most men would feel if for example somebody told you all that mattered in your life was your parenting ability. >>

I have had many responsibilities in life. Some times I'm not sure if agreeing to do something or be something in society was smart, or a stupid choice. Maybe in the long run I will find out. In the case of my children, I have no doubts that this responsibility is serious and matters to them and me personally, now and in the future. No body says that it is all that matters but it is one of the few things that definitely matters.

Michelle, I think I agree with you to a point - that the reason you seem to see so much emphasis on a perceived "platform" of "stay-at-home" moms is more along the lines of already having made your decision not to be one, thus, you believe it is insulting to you to have someone hold a view contrary to yours.

Why is it an issue? Simply stated - we, as a society, are paying dearly for child-rearing problems. We are incarcerating them at a record pace and spending billions to repair the damage they cause. Then we're spending more and more billions to try and rehabilitate them into "useful" citizens. Then we spend billions to take care of the children they have.

This brave-new-world "family" that liberals hold up as a viable future of life here is an abject failure.
